What you are buying

There are two ways to pay, and they are not the same thing. Buying a single case is a one-time purchase: that case stays available on your account. The subscription opens every case — the ones on the shelf now and the ones published later — for as long as it is running.

Only the host needs to own a case. Anyone joining a room by code or QR plays for free.

A case is designed to be played once: after the resolution everyone at the table knows the answer. That is the nature of the game, not a defect.

Where you bought it, and why it matters

You can buy on this website or inside the iPhone app, and the two are billed by different companies. Which one you used decides who charges you, who can cancel a subscription and who handles a refund — so it is worth knowing which you did. If you are not sure, look at the receipt: it names the seller.

What you bought works in both places either way. A case bought on the website appears in the app, and a case bought in the app appears on the website, once you are signed in to the same account in both.

Buying on this website

Payments on this site are processed by Stripe, which is the seller of record for them: Stripe charges you, issues the receipt and handles the tax. We never see or hold your card details.

A single case costs 4.99 USD, or the equivalent in your local currency, and is a one-time payment.

The subscription costs 29.99 USD per year and renews automatically at the same price at the end of each year until you cancel. Cancel any time from the link in your Stripe receipt, or by writing to us at info@theguiltyparty.app — we can cancel a Stripe subscription for you. Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not shorten the period you have already paid for.

You do not create an account to buy. The email address you pay with becomes the way back to your purchases: on a new device, use «Restore purchases» and we email you a sign-in link. We store that address only as an irreversible hash — see the Privacy Policy.

Refunds for website purchases are ours to give: write to us within 14 days of the purchase and, if you have not played the case, we will refund it. If you have played it, tell us what went wrong — an evening that did not work is worth a refund too, and we would rather hear about it.

Buying in the iPhone app

Purchases made inside the app are handled by Apple, and your Apple ID is charged when you confirm the purchase. Prices are set per country by the App Store.

The subscription is 29.99 USD per year and renews automatically at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Cancelling later takes effect at the end of the following period, not immediately.

You cancel and manage it in your Apple ID settings — on your device, in Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or from the Guilty Party settings screen, which opens the same place. We cannot cancel an Apple subscription for you; only Apple can.

Refunds for purchases made in the app are handled by Apple under their terms, and we cannot issue them. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

What survives a cancellation

If a subscription ends, the free case and every case you bought on its own stay with you. Nothing you paid for outright is taken back.

Cases bought on their own never expire and are not part of the subscription: buying one does not start a subscription, and cancelling a subscription does not remove one. This is true of both shops.

Fair use

The cases — their text, characters and artwork — are ours. Play them with your friends as much as you like; do not republish, resell or reproduce them elsewhere.

The service

Rooms rely on an internet connection and a third-party service. We keep it running with reasonable care, but we cannot guarantee it will be available at any particular moment, and we are not liable for an evening that did not happen.
