Murder mystery, no printer involved
The murder mystery party game — one phone, friends join by QR
Pick a case. Your friends scan a code and open it in their browser. Half an hour later someone at your table is lying, everybody knows it, and nobody agrees about who.
The Eclipse is free. No install, no sign-up.

The Eclipse
How an evening actually goes
-
Tonight you are somebody else
Everyone gets a character: a name, a history, and cards only you can see. The crime has already happened — and one of you did it.
-
Three jobs at one table
- The group — find the culprit.
- You — keep the suspicion off yourself; everyone has something to hide.
- If it was you — get to the end without being named.
-
Say what is on your card
Each round opens a new one. Everything on it is true: you may hide things, you may not invent them.
-
Read the dossier, then accuse
After every round one new fact lands on all the phones. It never clears anyone. After three acts you all point at once.
One of you opens the room. The rest scan a QR code and the evening opens in their browser — nothing to install, no account, no email.
It works over a video call too. Send the link in the chat instead of holding up a QR code. Playing over Zoom or FaceTime.
No host. No prep. Nobody sits out.
No host
The app runs the evening. Nobody reads a script aloud, and nobody has to organise a party they then spend three hours refereeing.
No prep
Nothing to print, cut out or put in envelopes. You decide to play at 21:00 and you are playing at 21:02.
Nobody sits out
There is no elimination. Whoever the table accused in round one is still arguing their case in round three.
Made for 4–6 players — works when Mafia can't
Mafia wants nine people and someone willing to moderate instead of play, and the first person killed spends the rest of the night on their phone.
This is built for the table you actually have. Four to six, everyone with a role, everyone still talking when the last accusation goes in. Two of the cases are written for exactly four people, which is the size most evenings turn out to be.
What it costs
Buy a case once and keep it. The shelf is yours while you pay for it.
Tonight's case
Buy once$4.99 / case
No account to make, and no subscription started.
- Buy it once and host it again with a table that hasn't played it.
- Your guests never pay. They scan a code and play in a browser.
- Written by hand, not generated: three acts, one solution, and nobody has to be the game master.
Every case has its own button. The Eclipse is free.
Every case, now and later
Save 40%$4.15 $2.50 / month
Billed $29.99 once a year — the 10 paid cases cost $49.90 one at a time.
- Every case on the shelf today, and every new one as it lands.
- A case you bought outright stays yours if you ever stop.
- Renews once a year. Cancel any time.
One payment of $29.99 a year, for the whole shelf.
Guests never pay. Anyone who joins by QR never sees a price at all — charging the table would ruin the evening the host paid for.
No account to make: you pay, and the receipt is your way back in. The Eclipse is free and needs nothing but a browser.
Questions people ask
Do we have to print anything?
No. Every murder mystery kit sold as a PDF ends with somebody at a printer the night before, cutting out character sheets. Here the case lives on the phones that are already in the room: one person opens it, everyone else scans a code.
Is there one we can try for free?
Yes — The Eclipse is free and needs no install and no sign-up. It is a full case, not a demo: same three acts, same dossiers, same accusation at the end.
What does a case cost?
$4.99 for a case, which you keep. The whole season is $29.99 if you would rather have the shelf than pick one at a time. Only the host pays; guests never see a payment screen.
Can we play it over a video call?
Yes. The phones only need each other through the server, not a shared table, so a group on a call plays the same way — everyone joins by link instead of scanning a code across the room.
Do we need to prepare or dress up?
Nothing to read in advance and nothing to prepare. The app deals each player a character and their private cards when the evening starts. Costumes are welcome and change nothing.
